1. Get Creative with Flowers (Real and Fake)

If you’re lucky, there are already daffodils poking up out of the ground near your house. Maybe your flower garden is already starting to sprout some buds. Lighten the mood in your home with a bunch of the season’s first flowers.

Use your imagination to creatively display your flowers. Do you have some mason jars lying around? What about an empty basket? Glass bowls and decorative vases help accentuate your spring flowers. Make sure to put them where people will see them like foyers and living rooms.

2. Get a Head Start on Your Herb Garden

Starting an herb garden on your windowsill will give you a reason to let the sunshine in. You will also enjoy its aromatic qualities while making your indoors look more lively. An added bonus is that you will have a head start on this year’s herb garden. When spring weather is here to stay, just move the herbs outside to the garden.

3. Change up Your Drapes

When spring comes the days get longer and the skies are clearer. Bring spring inside by letting the light shine in, starting with the drapes. Winter drapes are made heavy to keep the cold out and the heat in. Switch them out for light airy drapes that let more light in and catch a breeze. Mirrors are great for making spaces look bigger. If you have a few windows that let in too much light, mix in darker colored fabric paneling with sheer drapes.

4. Add Pops of Lemon

Just like fresh flowers add aroma and brightness, fresh fruits have the same appeal. Lemons and oranges are the most aromatic, but you can also get creative by mixing in many different fruits. Still, lemons in a glass bowl just screams spring!

5. Bring in Tree Buds, Limbs and All

Have you ever thought of bringing in some of those little red buds sprouting on the tree out front? Choose a couple of limbs and mix them in with fresh, spring flowers.

6. Bring out Your Spring Linens

Drapes aren’t the only items that should be swapped out for lighter ones. Your tablecloths, throw pillows, bedspreads and towel sets should all be swapped out for springy colors and textures. Consider buying new spring linens for an even bigger effect.

7. Freshen the Air Inside with Springtime Aromas

When it smells like spring, it feels like spring. Flowers freshen up and clean the air but so do fragrant oils and air fresheners. You can even find more aromatic hand soaps for your bathrooms to lighten things up. Lilac is a great spring scent to bring indoors.
